Easter Services Across Local Areas are Big Success

It was a beautiful morning to celebrate the risen Lord. Thousands of people gathered around beach sunrise services and in churches across the area to celebrate Easter. In Jacksonville Beach alone at the Seawalk Pavilion 2 to 3,000 people gathered rejoicing the 60th annual service on the water. It is not often found that many from all walks of life come together to celebrate one thing.. a hope. Easter is celebrated far and wide but as for the Jacksonville area and the beaches, celebrations were especially a success.

Early Monday morning in South Dakota Troy James decided that he would steal a police car after the suspect called for assistance about his car being out of gas.  When the responding officer arrived on the scene, James was acting weird so the officer tried to detain him. When he did so James pushed the officer down and took his squad car. The chase then proceeding to last 140 miles when James was eventually stopped and detained. So next time the officer goes to help someone on the side of the road I’m sure he will lock his car..

Domestic Violence Victim Marries Man Who Saved Her

On Jan. 24, 2012, Melissa Dome was brutally stabbed 32 times by an ex-boyfriend. Police officers, EMTs, firemen and a Life Flight helicopter all rushed to Dohme’s aid, but all of the first responders thought the same thing, “There’s no way this woman is going to survive.” One fireman, Cameron Hill, who was responsible for clearing a landing space for the helicopter, looked at Dohme and had a different outlook for Dohme. Melissa stated, “He had a feeling that he would see me again and he didn’t know why, and then we met again. Everyone thought I was going to die, but he had this feeling that he was going to see me again.” The two made the feeling come true and tied the knot on March 4, 2017. The couple is happy and thriving. Melissa said after her recovery she told her mom, “I said, ‘Mom, that right there is my next boyfriend. That’s the kind of man that I want to be with.’”

A Wheelchair for a Crippled Pet Goldfish?

Earlier this week a Texas man needed to take matters into his own hands when he found out his pet goldfish has a disease. His pet fish is suffering from a bladder disease, which caused the fish not to be able to stay upright, so the man built his fish a custom wheelchair that allows him to stay upright. The wheelchair consists of airline tubing, weights, and styrofoam that all come together to keep the fish upright. In the end this man went above and beyond for his poor pet goldfish and gave it a better quality of life.

Real Life Jungle Book

Last week a young girl from about eight to ten years old was found at the border of India and Nepal living with a pack of monkeys. Police were notified by the local Katarniaghat wildlife preserve who reported their findings. When the authorities were obtaining the young girl she was screeching and walking on all fours, communicating with the monkeys who were attempting to stop the police from taking her. The girl was found with severe signs of malnourishment and had multiple lacerations on her body. The police have yet to locate the young girl’s parents however, the girl will be turned over to child welfare when she recovers. Many are astounded comparing this to the Kipling’s “The Jungle Book” where a young boy named Mowgli was raised in the jungle by wolves. It is also thought to be “Tarzan” where the boy is raised in the jungle by monkeys like the young girl found last week. It is currently unknown how this young girl found her way living with the monkeys but one thing is for sure, it makes for a intriguing story.

Film Industry To Grow In Jacksonville

On Friday Flordia Senator Audrey Gibson filed a 10 page proposal that if accepted couple bring the film industry to Jacksonville. This proposal would create a film investment corporation that would allow Jacksonville to be involved in the industry. Gibson’s bill doesn’t outline the amount of money that could be running through the new corporation, But it would require the state Department of Economic Opportunity to be aware of each contract and for all ongoing investments to be published online. In the meantime, the Florida Film and Entertainment Advisory Council has estimated that the state has lost out on about $650 million in film and TV production over the past three years by being unable to compete with neighboring states that offer incentives. With this crisis of loosing business and the potential benefits for many in the city of Jacksonville it is very important that this be backed by the community. With the right backing and the right effort the film industry could be a great opportunity for the city of Jacksonville.

Tangled Owl rescued by Local fire fighters

Earlier today on Sunday February 19th, St. Johns county law enforcement and fire rescue teams rescued an owl after a local pedestrian spotted it tangled in wire-like string near Turnbull Creek. After the team cautiously removed the string, they took the owl to animal control for further care. This is truly a great, fuzzy, delightful incident for the local fire rescue team and we can rest assure that the owl is going to live it’s little life to the fullest.

Hundreds of Whales Found Dead

On February 10, hundreds of whales were found dead after they were stranded on a New Zealand beach on Friday. It was one of the largest incidents of whales beaching with over 400 whales having washed ashore. Andrew Lamason, the department’s regional manager, said, “416 pilot whales swam ashore at Farewell Spit in the Golden Bay region, on the northern tip of South Island. About 70 percent had perished by the time wildlife officers reached the remote location and about 500 volunteers pitched in to get the remaining whales offshore.” The rush to save the whales did not do much good. After the whales were pushed back into the sea, many found their way restricted by dead whales floating and blocking their path out to sea. Lamason said, “the reason the whales beached themselves was unknown but he believed it was partly due to the local geography.” All that is left is to hope the relief efforts of many have paid off for the pilot whales.https://phys.org/news/2017-02-hundreds-whales-dead-zealand-beach.html
